Sector leaders join together to celebrate control room heroes

Organisations supporting the vital work of the emergency services have come together to back awards that shine a welcome spotlight on Britain’s control room unsung heroes.

The APD Control Room Awards are the only honours that pay tribute to the life-saving and life-changing work of staff in critical control rooms across the UK.

They recognise the extraordinary and largely unheralded contribution to the public and society as a whole of people working in control rooms for the police, fire, ambulance and emergency rescue services, as well as in the aviation and transportation sectors.

The APD Control Room Awards are run by APD Communications, which develops critical, life-saving software used by the police and other emergency services organisations UK-wide, as well as transport and aviation operators nationally and internationally.

First staged last year, the awards are returning in 2019, with entries now open.

Bronze Sponsor of the awards is West Pier Telecom, the award-winning provider of communications and networking products and a key reseller of Avaya multi-site and contact centre solutions.

British APCO (BAPCO), the leading UK-based association for everybody who uses public safety communications and IT, and the International Critical Control Rooms Alliance (ICCRA), which brings together critical control room professionals worldwide and co-ordinates discussion on key sector issues, are also supporting the awards with promotion and publicity using their extensive networks.

In addition, the awards are supported by BAPCO 2019, the annual conference and exhibition that is a crucial event for everyone involved in critical communications and public safety solutions. BAPCO 2019 is sponsoring the Lifetime Achievement Award.
